I absolutely HATED my body. For many years. From the age of 14-15 I guess. I remember taking a picture of myself at the age of 16, on holiday in the south of France, and when it was printed (the good old non-digital times!), I used a pen to mark and effectively CARVE OUT the fat I didn’t want to see on my hips.
One hip was square, the other round. I HATED the square one. The one that had ‘square fat’ at the top.
If you saw this picture today, you’d think ‘What the fuck?! Where was the fat?!’ I don’t think I have this picture any more, as I was naked in it and didn’t know where to put it. I may well have burned it many years later, when I didn’t want to think about my body in this way any more.
Today, I am MANY MORE kilos heavier. MANY. But I’m far far far happier today than I was then.
Yes, teenage years and all that, but of course the transition to adulthood was never helped by negative comments from my parents, in particular my dad. I was never perfect. I always had too much of this and not enough of that. And it kept changing. My hair would be too dark one day, but then too blonde a few days later. How was I supposed to keep up?!
So today, I would like to know from you: what are those negative comments you heard when you were little/young, that YOU TELL YOURSELVES NOW?
If I managed to move away from those destructive thoughts and behaviours, you can too. (PS: my hips are still asymmetrical, I still have one that is squarer than the other! I just laugh about it now and accept it. Slim or overweight, the shape is the same!)
But if you would like help with getting rid of these comments and those habits you started when you were little but are still PLAGUING you, then why not do my 3-week online course? It’s only £97, and you can sign up by just clicking on ‘BUY HERE!’ on this page.
It will be a fun 3 weeks where you will learn, IN DEPTH, all the stuff I’ve been talking about for months in here 🙂
Twenty women only – will you be one of them?
The actual course starts on Monday 26th June, for 3 weeks, until Sunday 16th July, and we will have weekly live Q&A calls in the dedicated Facebook group, on Wednesday evenings, 7.30-8.30pm.
